Terence Cato is the information technology director for the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) and the Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) as part of the shared services group.
Cato brings more than 20 years of experience as a business and technology leader and manager with a diversified background in information technology and product development. Prior to his current appointment, Cato served as information technology manager for the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development (DEED), where he provided strategic direction and oversight of statewide initiatives. Before the move to DEED, he successfully deployed and managed the statewide communication network. In the early years of the World Wide Web’s emergence while serving as the data communications specialist, he developed the internet presence for the Alaska Job Center Network and the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services. At the Alaska State Troopers, Cato was appointed manager of the DivTel at Public Safety, which provides telecommunication services for state, local government and radio services to law enforcement.
Cato proudly served as a First Lieutenant in the National Guard Reserves. He also volunteers for as a U16 soccer coach, and works with both Catholic Social Services and the University of Alaska Anchorage Athletic Committees.
Cato holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Florida State University, a Master of Business Administration, Ph.D. in elementary education, and certifications as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Window Server 2008 R2 and as a Cisco Certified Network Professional.
