July 31, 2007 - AEA Responds to Beaver Powerhouse Fire
(Anchorage) - Two Rural Electric Utility workers from the Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) arrived in Beaver this afternoon with an emergency generator, fuel tank, transformer and additional equipment needed to restore electric power to the village in response to a fire that destroyed the community's powerhouse.

December 5, 2006 - Chena geothermal project wins national award
Chena Hot Springs Resort’s innovative new geothermal unit has won another energy award, this time the “2006 On-Site Generation Award” annually bestowed by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The “Chena Chiller” is an alternative energy project in part funded by an Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) Power Project Fund loan, is located some 57 miles from Fairbanks and is not connected to the grid.

Chena Hot Springs Resort’s new geothermal unit was named Project of the Year in the Renewables Category as part of an international competition with hundreds of submissions. The alternative energy project, which came online this August, was in part funded by an Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) Power Project Fund loan.
